Percy Spencer was born and raised in Howland, Maine. When he was 18 months old, his father died, causing his
mother to abandon him shortly afterward. He was adopted by his uncle and aunt, both of which were quite poor.
Unfortunately, at the age of seven, Spencer's uncle died. Not long after, he left school to support himself and his aunt.
When he was 18, he joined the U.S. Navy. There, he learned about radio technology. He was educated in many
mathematic fields, as well. Later, he worked at Raytheon and was the head of the power tube division. His division
began with fifteen employees and grew to over 5000 employees.
